The next morning, we decided to go to Prescott to look around the shops in the historic district. I loved that area of Prescott and plan on returning to do more antique shopping. I had a great time on our little trip.
For Father's Day this year, instead of the usual tools, we got my dad a trip to Jerome to stay in the Jerome Grand Hotel. We've always watched the ghost hunting shows together, so we thought it would be fun to try ghost hunting ourselves.
It only took two hours to get to Jerome from Phoenix (a great option for a mini vacation). We started by checking into the hotel. It was so cool. We got to ride in the original elevator, which was installed in 1926. I'm sure we looked hilarious trying to operate it. After we checked in, we had a tasty lunch and walked around the town, checking out all the little shops and galleries. It started raining, so we went back to the hotel room and played cards until it was time for our ghost tour.
The ghost hunting tour was fun. We got to walk around areas other people don't get to see, like the boiler room and empty hotel rooms. The guide told us more about the history of the hotel, which used to be a hospital, and stories of ghost encounters that have happened in the building. We learned that our room used to be the x-ray room. I appreciated that they didn't want to take away from the history and didn't change much to make it into a hotel.
