If you've done the program, you know the first step is planning. For me, that meant picking a start date. October, November, and December were not going to work for me, because I knew that I won't be able to resist the treats and holiday meals. Like a lot of people, I picked January 1st.
Which makes today, day 11! It was hard to see the effects of Whole30 on my body, because I woke up with a cold on the 1st. Many people online said that day 2 and 3 were really hard for them. All I could feel was the cold. And I didn't have much of an appetite anyway. Thank goodness, because my "sugar dragon" would have been hard to tame.
The cold dragged on for so long, probably until day 9, that it was hard to really get a sense if I felt bad from the cold or from my new diet. Except for resisting sweets, I would say that the first 11 days have been pretty easy. In fact, I felt better today! It was easier to get out of bed and I had more energy throughout the day.
I love that I'm trying food that I wouldn't have tried before. And, more importantly, I'm learning about the food I'm putting in my body. I'm definitely not going to stick with a Whole30 diet permanently, but I am going to be a lot more picky on what I choose to eat. Regardless of what other people might think.
For me, that has been a little challenging. People often have input about what others choose to eat, so remembering why I'm doing this and that I'm doing it for me, helps me feel confident in my choice to better myself.
I'm still getting comfortable to the new meals, so I don't have any meal posts yet. But, there will certainly be some coming in future posts! If you are on Whole30, please let me know! And if you are, leave a comment with your favorite meals. I'm running out of meal plans and would love some fresh ideas! And thank you so much for taking the time to read my thoughts on the program so far. It means a lot to me that you are here. -Laura
