2015 ended up being a really busy year. New apartment, new job, moved out of said apartment, started house hunting. And that's just the big stuff. It was busy and went by quick. It felt like I didn't produce as much as I had planned.
I want 2016 to be different. I want to work on personal growth. I want to work on complete projects. I want to slow down and enjoy the days. I want to avoid letting the year slip by.
So, let's get to the goals.
1. complete Whole30
This is already in progress. I'm on day 7 and not loving it so far. Only because I really, really want chocolate. And wine. And bread. But, I've been trying things I've never had before and loving that my food is not all processed junk. There will be more Whole30 posts to come.
2. buy a house
We've decided that we'd like to buy a house. And we are so excited about it! Grant and I are almost through the pre-approval process and are starting to work with our realtor to find the perfect house! There will, of course, be many projects once we buy a home.
3. visit a state park every month
I always say that I hate Arizona. What I actually hate is the extreme heat in the summer and the fact that everything is brown and tan. But I don't want to feel that way about my home. I want to enjoy everything this state has to offer, before I decide to leave it. I think taking the time to enjoy all the beautiful mountains, cities, and deserts will help me appreciate what is around me and will help me have fun in the process.
4. hike/walk 500 miles in the year
This kind of goes along with number 3. I want to hike or walk 500 before the end of the year. These miles are saved specifically for hike or walking trails.
5. read for 30 minutes a day
I love this one. I tried starting this in the middle of last year, but forgot about it and stopped after a month. I really enjoyed it though. This time, I bought Elise's goal tracker to have a reminder. Her goal tracker is amazing. It's not only beautiful designed, but it's simple and straight to the point. A Kelly Purkey stamp set I have fits the circles perfectly and I've been using that to keep track of the days I've read.
6. keep up with my weekly scrapbook
This has been a goal of mine since I heard of Project Life about four years ago. Some how, this always slips away from me, but not this year. I got a 6×12 album that I think will make all the difference. That size is half of the traditional album and is way less intimidating. I'm excited about giving this another shot and taking a more approachable view.
That's it! Hopefully, easy and doable. I have a lot of other projects/goals I want to complete this year, but I don't want to over do it right at the start. 2016 is going to be a year of letting go of unwanted things (stuff and forgotten projects), personal growth, and getting stuff done. I'm really changing my perspective and working on growth in all aspects of my life. It's going to be good.
What are your goals for this year? I'd love to hear what you're working on! -Laura
