For the past two years, I've create lists of goals to complete before my next birthday. Unfortunately, I've both lists hard to reach and haven't completed either. But, I still really love the idea of using each new age as a way for completing fun goals.

For this year, I've decided to try to complete three larger goals while being 23. I think, for me, this method will be more obtainable. Here are the three goals for this next year:

1. go to New Orleans.
2. cook through Martha Stewart's Cooking School book.
3. complete 12 handmade projects.

For years, I've been dreaming of visiting New Orleans and I finally want to make it happen. This year will be the year.

As for the cooking through the cooking school book, I heard someone talk trying to do that in a year and I thought it would be a great way to improve my cooking skills. I've been working at getting better in the kitchen, so I think this goal is perfect. I might skip the recipes I'm not interested in (like salt baked fish), but I want to try many of them to learn new techniques and how to cook kitchen staples.

Lastly, I consider myself a maker, but I realized that lately I haven't been produce finished projects. I spend a lot of time planning projects and buying supplies. But, I never get started. Or I start a project, get frustrated, and stop working on it. I left this goal open by just saying 12 projects, so I won't be stuck to things I'm not passionate about. I think it will encourage me to finish projects I've been wanting to work on.

I'm really excited to give this style of birthday lists a try and to see what 23 has in store for me! xo. Laura

Im bad at fulfilling a bucket list, too! Hahahaha… I used to have this 20 before 20 lists and honestly I never finish any one of them. Breaking them into smaller lists is actually a pretty good idea. Cant wait to see the updates on this ;)Dara | Hola Darla | @DarlaOct

Great list! I think the key is that you have kept the list short and sweet. Love making lists myself. There is no better feeling than crossing something off a list!Rae | Love from Berlin

I love the idea of setting goals too 🙂 Sometimes people only focus on the New Year resolutions when they can do it all year round! -L | The Nerdy Me

Thanks, Dara! I dont know why it was tough to finish the big list. It was all stuff I wanted to do. But, I think this smaller list with bigger goals will be perfect! Laura
