My Goals for 2017!

2017 GoalsHey guys! I love the start of the new year! It's so inspiring. I always feel like it's a chance to reset and start fresh. Goal setting is a passion of mine, but I find that I can over estimate the amount I can accomplish. So this year, I'm going to be trying new ways of setting goals and tracking my progress.

Here are my goals for 2017:

  • complete Whole30 (again, but with Grant this time!)
  • blog at least 3 times a week (I have an editorial calendar already planned out!)
  • go to London and Paris
  • get my finances in order (doing the Total Money Makeover)
  • finish all house projects
  • drink at least 6 cups of water a day (trying to make 2017 a migraine free year, fingers crossed)

This year, I'm trying not to restrict my goals to timeline or doing a certain number of things a week. In previous years, I had goals like hike 20 miles, cook three new recipes, and finish a quilt a week. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea. As soon as I fell behind in the first week, I'd have to catch up, and catch up the next week, and the next. Soon I'd feel overwhelmed by my "fun" goals that I'd never end up completing anything. My blogging goals and water are on a schedule, but I'm reevaluating the way I plan and track these goals to be more successful.

Like last year, I'm using the Get to Work Book again for my daily planner and goal setting. If you haven't seen the Get to Work Book before, I highly recommend check it out! I love how simple, yet beautiful the design is. It helps me focus on the content I'm writing. This planner make it easy to track goals and reflect on what worked and what didn't.

There are a few new things I want to try this year as well.

I'm really excited about these new goals, because 1) the content made by these awesome ladies is free and 2) I think they will help me change my mindset and gain new insight into how I work best. Last year, I did one little word, but I wish I dug deeper into the word. My word was practice and it will forever be a part of my life. But I wish I had documented my experience with it. So this year, I ordered a cut out of my word and will be participating in Ali's ecourse (not free, but still a great price!)

To me, this year feels like I need to work on hustling. I want to finish all the renovations and decoration on my house, grow my blog, travel out of the country, and get a handle on my finances (bye, bye student loans!). All of these things feel like giant goals! My hope is to hustle and grow this year, and slow down and enjoy the benefits next year. But I don't want to hustle so much that I'm stressed and missing out on life. That's why I think the one little word, video project, and Year of Awesome will help. I see those as ways of reflecting and reevaluating throughout the year.

What are your goals for 2017? Are you picking a one little word? What tips have you found for staying on track with your goals? I can't wait to hear from you! xo. Laura

    I use the same planner!
I shy away from the goalmaking (at least for creative pursuits) because the realist in me knows that I’m unlikely to meet them between work and family commitments. :/
I enjoyed the bath bomb making. Looking forward to another crafty get together!

I love Get To Work Book! It’s so helpful. I understand not goal setting creative projects, because it can take some of the magic out of the creative project. I notice though that if I don’t, I won’t end up setting aside time for the project.
I’m glad you had fun! We will plan more soon!
